DINANGA’S IS VITAL TO

- By Daniel English

DARTFORD twice came from behind to round off a week of victories over local rivals with a win over a hard-working Welling side.

The Darts were looking to build upon two victories, with their two previous triumphs coming in derbies against Tonbridge and Ebbsfleet.

Welling, meanwhile, were seeking their first win in five and visited Princes Park having last won there in 2013 in the National League.

Despite the difference in league position, the sides shared four first-half goals.

The Wings flew into an early lead on three minutes through Dipo Akinyemi who tapped home following an error by Darts’ defender Kory Roberts.

Dartford tried to hit back immediately and worked into a good position on nine minutes before Luke Allen fired wired from the edge of the area.

The visitors looked lively against an injury-hit Dartford with Mason Saunders-Henry nodding over from close range three minutes later.

Roberts continued to look nervous at the back for the Darts, playing a soft back pass to Dan Wilks who collided with Saunders-Henry with the referee sparing his blushes.

Wilks recovered and played a terrific ball to Marcus Dinanga, who deftly looped the ball over Jack Sims on 17 minutes.

Welling recovered well and were awarded a penalty when Kai Innocent hacked down Aaron Barnes and Akinyemi coolly dispatched on 21 minutes.

The Darts pegged Welling back for the second time on 32 minutes with Innocent atoning by teeing up Danny Leonard who tapped in from close range.

Peter Taylor’s side then had two good opportunities to restore their lead before the break.

Olumide Durojaiye saw a low effort deflected wide on 43 minutes before Ademola Shokunbi headed over a minute later as the visitors looked dangerous each time they attacked.

The excitement of the first half was not replicated after the restart, as both sides sought the game’s fifth goal.

Keiran Murtagh nodded the ball into the direction of Dinanga on 57 minutes but the Wings’ defence did well to scupper the forward from making any threatening connection.

Wings’ Kristian Campbell went close on 65 minutes before Luke Allen rifled the Darts ahead on 74 minutes with a spectacular half-volley into the bottom corner from 25 yards sparking wild celebrations.

Dinanga then netted the fourth for the Darts on 87 minutes with a neatly curled effort into the top corner to seal it.
