TOP CHANCE SLIPS PAST

-

WORKINGTON blew their chance of winning the West Division title.

They could only draw with bottom side Market Drayton, who had conceded more than 100 goals in their previous 37 games.

It took until the 82nd minute for Workington to break a dogged home defence in which keeper Ashley Rawlins and centre half Joe Care excelled.

Although Bootle had done their bit in holding Warrington Rylands, the Cumbrians couldn’t see it through themselves.

Market Drayton took the lead after 19 minutes

LOUIS Potts got the only goal of the game as Mossley ended their season with victory over 1874 Northwich.

With eighth place already sealed in the West Division, the Lilywhites were playing only for pride.

The game proved to be difficult for both teams to get in to with high winds making it a poor spectacle in the first-half.

Mossley looked the most likely team to score in the second half and Potts scored the winning goal after 56 minutes with through Angelo Franco.

As word filtered through that Warrington were being held, Workington’s efforts became increasingly frantic, but Reuben Jerome’s late goal was not enough.

They will now host Marine on Tuesday, ten days after losing on Merseyside. STAR MAN: Ashley Rawlins (Mkt Drayton)

a headed effort from a great Jack Banister cross.

It got wrose for the visitors when they went down to ten men when Calum Gardner saw red, and the Lilywhites saw the game out to seal all three points on the final day.
