SOLIHULL Moors strengthend their play-off bid with a comfortable victory over an already relegated Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

A Harry Boyes strike and Ollie Harfield own goal put them in control by the break before James Clarke made it three.

Tyler Cordner gave the Terras hope by pulling a goal back before Andy Dallas capped a fine individual performance against his old club to make it 4-1, deeming Tom Blair’s stoppage-time effort as mere consolation.

Victory saw Moors consolidate fourth place and boss Neal Ardley hailed a “professional performance”.

“We limited them to very little and I was really pleased with that,” he said.

“Seeing yourselves 2-0 up at half-time is great but we’re disappointed to have let in two goals.” Ardley said

Solihull took the lead with the first chance of the game in the seventh minute. Ryan Barnett’s cross from the right was met at the edge of the six-yard box by left-back Boyes, who expertly took the ball down well and volleyed home leaving Ross Fitzsimons rooted to his spot.

Moors continued to dominate and it was no surprise to see them double their advantage on 41 minutes. A deep ball from Barnett saw Kyle Hudlin’s effort parried away by Fitzsimons, Dallas’ follow-up was blocked and Callum Maycock’s effort eventually ricocheted in off Harfield.

Solihull were good value also for their third on 69 minutes. Maycock picked out a ball to Clarke, who struck the shot first time towards the near post and despite Fitzsimons diving to his left, there was little he could do as the ball was destined for the net.

The Terras, to their credit, never stopped chasing and they did manage to bag a goal back on 79 minutes – centre-back Cordner slotting in from Sean Shields’ driven corner.

Dallas deserved a goal for his efforts and he wasn’t to be denied in stoppage-timecontrolling the ball well, dribbling around Haji Mnoga before finishing coolly beyond the oncoming Fitzsimons.

But Weymouth still had the last laugh, scoring a second in the 94th minute. Silky passing play saw Cameron Murray thread the ball wide to Blair, who fired his right foot across keeper Ryan Boot and into the corner. Terras boss David Oldfield heaped praise on his team’s efforts, adding: “We had a choice. We went down last week so had to decide whether to fall away and collapse or try and galvanise ourselves as a club and look forward.

“There were flashes of good play but the way we concede goals and our lack of continuity as a team, whether we’re in possession or out, isn’t good enough. We need to do better. We have to get ourselves as a team, for a collective effort.”
