LOUIS Dennis’ goal seven minutes from time rescued a point for Bromley as they made it 11 league games unbeaten and maintained their place in the play-off chasing pack.

Maidenhead United took a deserved lead just shy of the hour mark when Emile Acquah turned in from a corner but Dennis’ sixth goal of the season ensured honours ended even.

The performance was a frustrating one for Bromley manager Andy Woodman but one he was keen to put in context.

“We weren’t at the races today but I think we have to be honest and realise that every team in the league will look at ifs and maybes about moments in matches,” Woodman said after a fourth consecutive draw left the Ravens slipping out of the playoff places on goal difference.

“We still need to be realistic as a football club that we are generally speaking batting above where we should be.

“At this moment we have lost a few players in recent weeks and it has hurt us but I am certain we’ll be ok. This will go down to the wire”.

The first half was as drab as they come with neither side able to fashion a meaningful effort on target.

Indeed, it took until the second 45 minutes for the game to spring to life and the opening goal when it came was just rewards for Maidenhead’s overall endeavour – Charlee Adams’ corner turned in by Acquah after a goalmouth scramble.

One very nearly became two for Alan Devonshire’s men moments later but Callum Reynolds’ timely interception prevented the frontman tapping into an open goal.

Maidenhead continued to look likely to add a second goal and the impressive Ashley Nathaniel-George saw his angled drive tipped over the crossbar by Reice Charles-Cook.

Forced to chase the game, Bromley only came alive in the final 10 minutes of the game. Omar Sowunmi tested Alexis Andre Jr from distance when his fierce effort wasa tipped around the post by the Maidenhead custodian, but Bromley weren’t to be denied an equaliser.

Dennis levelled the match with an arrowed drive into the corner of the net from 22 yards out.

Buoyed by the equaliser the home side very nearly won the game in the dying moments but Corey Whitely’s header was cleared off the line by Zico Asare.

Magpies Assistant manager, Ryan Peters cut a reflective figure afterwards, saying: “We are a little frustrated, we held the lead for a long time but we acknowledge that Bromley are a good side fighting for the play-offs.

“Given the fact that we had to clear Whitely’s header off the line in additional time added on we probably have to take this as a good draw.”
