BANIM’S BANISHED RADICAL RYLANDS

- By Neil Harvey

WARRINGTON Rylands are in the hunt for a new manager after Jody Banim quit the NPL Premier Division new boys.

The former Shrewsbury Town, Altrincham and Burton Albion striker had been in charge at Gorsey Lane for just four months after replacing promotion and FA Vase-winning manager Dave McNabb in September.

Banim led the club to 11 victories from his 28 games in charge, leaving Rylands just outside the play-off places in their first season at Step 3.

Now, however, the club say Banim has stepped away from the role “due to business commitments outside of football”.

“The board would like to place on record, their thanks for all of Jody’s efforts this season and wish him the best of luck for the future,” a brief statement read.

Senior players Dean Furman and Sam Egerton took charge of yesterday’s trip to league leders Hyde United, assisted by coach Damien Crossley.

● Adie Costello has been appointed the new manager of Bridlington Town following the resignation of Mike Thompson after seven months in charge.

Costello takes over the NPL East side alongside Ron Milham and said: “I feel proud to be asked to take the team and continue the work that Mike had started on the pitch this season.

He certainly had the team playing with belief and working hard each week for each other.”

● Ionut Vintila is back in charge at FC Romania.

Vintila was both chairman and manager of the Southern League Division One Central club when he left after 14 years in August 2020s.

But now he is back at the helm in a bid to help the club in its battle against relegation.

Vintila has wasted no time in bolstering his squad with ground landlords Cheshunt dual registering the likes of Carlos Lyon, Ebenezer Addo Kufuor, Ernold Haxhiu, Jamie Reynolds and Mo Camara.

Zach Davidson, Serghei Maximov and goalkeeper Lee Axworthy also join the Wolves from Sawbridgeworth, Redbridge and Barton Rovers respectively, alongside free agent Narcis-Florin Filip.
