BRETT’S BACK BUT GOING IT ALONE

- By Jon Couch

BRETT Munyard promises some “big changes” for his second spell in charge of Brightlingsea Regent – but they don’t include trusted assistants Dave Limber and Mark Healy.

Interim boss Limber and Healy were brought into the club by Munyard in November 2021 and took over management duties when Munyard departed in January.

However, the pair couldn’t lift Regent off the bottom of the Isthmian Premier division and on Monday it was announced that club and bosses had parted ways.

Within hours of their departure, Regent revealed that Munyard completed an emotional return to North Road following productive talks with chairman Terry Doherty.

“This is a new chapter for Brightlingsea Regent as we head into a new era at the club,” Doherty said in a statement.

“This isn’t a U-turn, this is something that’s going to be new, with new ideas, a new style and a fresh start for the club.

“We want stability, and given Brett’s past achievements for us, we feel he is the right man for the job”

Munyard then released a statement himself and revealed there will be no immediate return for his right-hand men.

“Firstly I would like to thank Mark and Dave for their friendship and loyalty over the past decade,” he said.

“I understand there will be assumptions on how this situation may look however how things are not how they seem.

“Me and Dave spoke at length about next season and both come to the conclusion that for now we wouldn’t work together next season. This has now lead to me searching for new staff members.

“In my time away I have focused very much on how I can improve and wanted to work with a larger management team next season to bring new ideas and a freshness to the club.”
