GOALFEST AS BOTH

- By Eric Pinch By Andy Bown

TAVISTOCK bowed out with a stirring win against fellow play-off hopefuls Frome, but it is Evesham who took the final spot with victory over Totton, leaving the Lambs, Bashley and Frome following behind.

It rained goals in the first period.

Ed Harrison went close before the Robins went ahead after ten minutes, when a ball into the area was not cleared to leave Sam Meakes to slot home.

Five minutes later the Lambs were level. Harrison picked up a loose ball, strode forward and fired into the top corner from 25 yeards out.

Only three minutes later Tavistock went ahead, as Joe O’Connor’s cross was thumped home by Tallan Burns.

And they made it 3-1 after 25 minutes when as Alex Bat

MANOR Farm knew a win at Westbury was their only hope of avoiding a relegation play-off – but other results meant it still wasn’t enough.

This was a niggly encounter with little quality, the winning goal coming from Josh Ford midway through the first half.

Evander Grubb’s effort beat Jonny Hill but Aaron Cockerill cleared off the line. Grubb shot wide soon after then Cockerill glanced tle set up Liam Prynn to score. Frome then came back minutes later as Jonathan Davis cut inside and curled it into the top corner.

Chances went begging for both sides in the second half but Frome pulled it back to 3-3 on the hour when Meakes headed home from a corner.

But it was the Lambs who would have the final say after 70 minutes with a well worked goal as Battle fired home. a header wide from Ashton Shanley’s corner.

Visiting keeper Benjamin John made two saves, from Charlie Walton’s fine strike just before the break then, after a scrappy start to the second half, he got down low to punch away Shanley’s effort.

WIMBORNE’S final home game of the season attracted New Cuthbury’s largest crowd of the season, 1,044, and with both teams needing a win, it took the two best players on the pitch, both central defenders, to score the goals.

After home keeper Shane Murphy had brilliantly tipped Charlie Madden’s first free-kick over the bar, he was unable to keep out Madden’s second from the edge of the area to give Bideford an early lead.

It wasn’t until the 78th min
