SACHA’S ON BOARD

-

THE co-founder of the Parklife music festival, Sacha Lord, has been named as the new chairman of Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Lord – who is also behind The Warehouse Project club nights and acts as Greater Manchester’s night-time economy adviser – is to take over from current chair Carl Barratt at the newly-promoted North West Counties League side at the end of the season.

“I have been aware of the Ammies for some years now,” said Lord, who was born in the Manchester district and who has long been a supporter of grass-roots football, as well as following Manchester United. “Over the last few months, I’ve attended quite a few games and when the opportunity arose to take over the reins this was something I couldn’t turn down, especially in such an exciting time for the club, following promotion.

“The club has so much potential and I am looking forward to helping to lead the next part of the journey at Wythenshawe.”

Barratt, who will remain as vice chairman, said the club’s board were “incredibly excited to take the club forward with Sacha at the helm”.

“Sacha also will be joining us following the news that we have had approval by the FA, Lancashire County FA and all 14 leagues to remove the word ‘Amateurs’ from our name to reflect the progress the club has made,” he said.

“Wythenshawe means the world to me and I cannot stress enough my enthusiasm and support for Sacha and his plans for the club. He has a superb track record of building destination venues and I know that we are in very capable hands.”
