OWNER DAVIS AIMS TO BRIDGE THE GAP

- By Robin Jones

IAN Davis has become the sole owner of Western Premier Division side Bridgwater United.

His takeover came after previous owner Adam Murry confirmed that he would be stepping down due to personal commitments.

Lifelong Arsenal fan Davis, a serial IT entrepreneur in WEB3 space and software development companies, has been a football fan since his earliest years and has held a lifelong ambition to own a club.

“He is delighted to have been given this opportunity to own Bridgwater United and help it continue to grow over the coming years,” said a club statement.

Following his takeover at Fairfax Park on Monday, Davis appointed Yeovil hotel owner and successful businessman Steven Graham as the club’s chief executive officer.

Steve said: “We also understand that it is the continued support from the fans and the local business community that helps maintain the club moving forward.

“One of the first things we will change is any children under the age of 12 years old, will not be charged any admission fee if they are accompanied by an adult. The main reason for this is when Ian was young, he couldn’t watch many games as his parents could not afford to pay his admission fee. Ian strongly believes that all Children no matter their background should be able to watch what he calls the best game ever.”

Graham has also invited supporters to email him with their ideas about moving the club forwards, and has promised to answer them all within seven days.

The current Bridgwater United, whose origins date back to 1898, were formed in March 2021 by a merger between Bridgwater Town and women’s club Yeovil United.
