RORY’S THE NEW MAN TO LEAD TOWN

- By Robin Jones

WYTHENSHAWE Town chairman Chris Eaton says Rory Fallon fits the bill as the ‘young, ambitious manager’ his clubs want.

The 32-year-old former Manchester City and Aston Villa youngster has been named as manager of the North West Counties Premier side, replacing Stalybridge Celtic-bound James Kinsey, who resigned after Town finished third in the table last season.

“We had several excellent applicants, but Rory was the one who most followed our philosophy of appointing a young ambitious manager,” Eaton said. “We are looking forward to the forthcoming campaign and continuing the success Wythenshawe Town has achieved in the past four seasons.”

Fallon earned a football scholarship at Loughborough University where he was selected to play for Great Britain Universities.

He then went on to forge a successful NonLeague playing career with clubs that included Hyde United, Curzon Ashton, Trafford, and FC United, winning promotion with the latter two.

Currently working towards his UEFA coaching badges, Fallon has coached the youth team at Altrincham and has worked with many semipro footballers on a oneto-one basis.

Last season, he led Division One South outfit Cheadle Heath Nomads and dramatically changed the fortunes of the club, taking Nomads from the threat of relegation to an eighth place in the table, winning an impressive 62% of their games.

Kinsey, himself boasted an impressive 61% league win record, in which Town have scored 384 goals in 153 games.

Kinsey, 31, said: “I’m absolutely gutted to be leaving the club after an unbelievable five years.

“I appreciate everything that the chairman and the club has done for me over the years. I’ve made friends for life here and I will be back as fan whenever I get time.”
