DANNY’S THE BOY AS STOUR HIT BACK IN EPIC

BOLDMERE 3 STOURBRIDGE 3

- NATIONAL LEAGUE ACADEMY

A DRAMATIC second half with five goals ensured the points were shared between Boldmere St Michaels and Stourbridge in an unforgettable tie in Division G at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.

The home side thought they had won it after going 3-2 up late on, but Stourbridge are in second place for a reason, and their resilience showed with a last-minute equaliser.

It took just three minutes for the game’s opening goal to come around, with Boldmere taking the early advantage. From a corner Kamil Solecki headed home from a gorgeous delivery.

The Mikes came into the contest unbeaten in three games – their best run of the season – and they went further ahead early in the second half.

A free kick swung into the box was glanced home by defender Kurtis Amoh.

But Darryl Knight’s Stourbridge refused to go away and they pulled one back with 20 to play.

Substitute Kelvin Adam netted with a tidy finish from 12 yards out for his sixth goal of the campaign, after some neat play on the right wing.

The Glassboys grabbed an equaliser with ten minutes remaining when the league’s highest scorer Edward Ofori volleyed home with class from 18 yards out following a goalkeeping error.

However, just when they thought they had snatched a point, Boldmere came forward straight from kickoff and grabbed what looked to be the winning goal.

A lapse in concentration at the back culminated in Pierre Phillips scoring his second of the season.

However, Stourbridge pounced and got themselves back on level terms with a scrappy goal being tapped in on the line by Danny Cox, the second substitute to get on the scoresheet to maintain their second place in the table.
