FROST IS FAMILIAR TO A CUP CLASSIC

-

TYLER FROST has been involved in two of the craziest FA Cup ties in recent years. Aldershot Town’s 7-4 win over Swindon Town in this season’s first round proper wasn’t the only 11-goal thriller the 24-year-old has tasted victory.

In 2020, the midfielder was at Crawley when they beat then-National League Torquay United 6-5 in a helter skelter goalfest. “Luckily I’ve come out on the right side,” Frost laughs in the EBB Lounge at the Shots’ home stadium. Frost and his team-mates would probably settle for something calmer at West Brom on Sunday. Having shared a 2-2 goal with Stockport County in the second round, it was the 1-0 away replay win Frost believes showed their backbone. “Swindon was a whirlwind in itself with the way the game went,” Frost says. “Obviously we backed ourselves to go there and get a result. But the way the game went surprised everyone. “Then to go on to Stockport and take them to a replay was a result in itself. “But I think the most impressive performance of our cup run so far is Stockport away. They don’t concede many, to not concede ourselves and to win 1-0 shows massive character. And also resilience. Maybe to everyone else it’s not the stand-out result, but for the team, that’s the biggest. “It’s like, ‘We’re a good team’. If we really work hard, do things right, we can beat the League Two leaders.”

Frost says this afternoon’s clash with the Championship Baggies is the biggest he will have played in.

And that’s why he’s determined to enjoy every moment .

“We’ve got to go there and hope we can put our game on them,” Frost says. “The gaffer has said it all along, we might not dominate the game but we will, at some moments, put our stamp on the game. We will create a chance and if we can be clinical then we have a chance.

“If we don’t believe that or think we can give them a game, what’s the point? We will go with the upmost respect to a massive club. But definitely thinking, ‘Can we put our stamp on the game?’”
