DANNY CASH-ES IN FOR REBELS!
Boss Hinshelwood hails ‘favourite’ performance
WORTHING manager Adam Hinshelwood described his side’s impressive away victory at Truro City as one of his “favourites of the season.”
Braces apiece from Danny Cashman and Ollie Pearce gave the Rebels a big victory at Bolitho Park.
Tyler Harvey headed the Cornish hosts into the lead on the half-hour mark but Cashman drew his side level on the brink of half-time with a header at the back post.
Two goals in two minutes from Pearce and Cashman early in the second half put Worthing in cruise control.
Pearce scored his second of the afternoon and his 20th goal of the season to wrap up the away win on 77 minutes rounding off a great team performance.
Hinshelwood was full of praise for his side’s performance.
“It was an unbelievable performance,” he said. “We were missing a few players. We were down to the bare bones. Only 13 players could make it down and all you ask is that they show a bit of grit and determination and they definitely showed that.
“As a club, it’s one of the good days and probably one of our favourite wins of the season.”
In an opening 45 minutes which only saw two shots on target, surprisingly produced two goals.
Harvey opened the scoring for Truro with his eighth of the campaign expertly heading home Andrew Neal’s cross past Josh Jeffries.
Worthing responded just before the break. Joe Felix delivered a cross from the right to the back post where Cashman was waiting to head past James Hamon to level bringing to an end a rather uneventful first half.
Worthing started the second half
strongly. Felix played a low cross from the byline into the box which found Cashman but his effort was saved by Hamon.
They took the lead ten minutes into the second period. New signing Jackson Wadham had a shot deflected into the path of Pearce who swivelled and fired into the bottom right corner.
They were off celebrating again within a blink of an eye. Pearce was played through on goal but unselfishly squared to Cashman who tapped home a third.
Felix was the provider again as he played in another delightful cross to the feet of Pearce who volleyed past Hamon emphatically to make it four.
Cashman was denied his hattrick by a brilliant diving stop from Hamon who tipped his strike from the edge of the box over the bar but Worthing move up to second.
