DAN’S THE MAN AT THE LAST...

- By Rob Cole

DAN Gossett struck three minutes from time to salvage a vital point for Caernarfon Town at

Cardiff Met and ensured his side finished in the top six in the JD Cymru Premier league.

The Cofis were involved in battle with Haverfordwest Conty for the final place in the top half of the table at the end of Phase 1 and would have heard the news that Martell Taylor-Crossdale had given the Bluebirds the lead in the first half of their home clash with Bala Town, his 10th in all competitions this season.

Caernarfon started well enough when Adam Davies fired in his 11th league goal of the season after only nine minutes and they held onto their lead for an hour. That’s when the Archers struck back with two goals in three minutes.

Emlyn Lewis levelled the scores before Eliot Evans notched his 11th of the season to send his side ahead with 17 minutes left on the clock.

Meanwhile, in Pembrokeshire, there was a goal rush at the death as Bala got back on level terms in the 86th minute through Josh Ulek and then went on to win the game in added time. Iwan Roberts made it 2-1 to the visitors in the 96th minute, Ben Fawcett levelled in the 97th and then Luke Wall wrapped things up with a third Bala goal in the 99th.

Newtown became the 22nd successive victims of runaway

league leaders The New Saints as they lost their fourth game in a row 3-1 at Park Hall. Bottom of the table Pontypridd United picked up three priceless points at fellow strugglers Colwyn Bay as they triumphed 3-2 thanks to a 95th minute penalty from Luke Cummings. Clayton Green gave the visitors a first half lead and then replied to a Harry Owen goal to keep his side ahead.

Udo Akpan looked to have salvaged a point for the Seagulls with a 95th minute penalty before Cummings struck at the death. Ponty coach Andrew Whittington added to the late drama by picking up a red card.

Aberystwyth Town weren’t able to build on their recent draw and win on home soil as they fell to a 4-2 defeat to Barry Town

United.

John Owen gave the home side a first-half lead, but two goals in the space of two minutes early in the second half turned the game on its head. Sam Snaith grabbed the first and then Aiden Lewis gave them a lead they were never to lose before Kayne McLaggon and Ollie Hulbert completed the job.

Connah’s Quay Nomads

boss Neil Gibson was sent off at

Penybont, where his side eventually got scored an 87th-minute winner through Michael Wilde.
