RANCE READY TO MAKE IMPACT

- By Neil Harvey

FOLKESTONE INVICTA new boy Dean Rance can’t wait to get back on the pitch after linking up with his former Ebbsfleet team-mate Andy Drury.

Invicta boss Drury has signed the 32-year-old on a one-month loan from National League North Scunthorpe United.

The pair played together at the Fleet between 2016 and 2019, winning the National League South title in 2017.

And Rance thanked his former midfield partner for the opportunity to get out on the pitch again with the Isthmian Premier outfit.

“Unfortunately I’ve not been able to play football this season for reasons out of my control,” Rance told Invicta TV.

“Jukesy (Drury) said to me about coming down and getting some games.

“I appreciate he’s going to allow me to come here, get some minutes under my belt and hopefully make a positive

impact. I am really excited to start playing football again.”

Drury, who took over the managerial reins in November, has been busy reshaping his squad in recent weeks.

Rance has been joined through the door this week by striker Louis Collins, who arrives for a second spell, as well as Eddie Allsopp, 22, from Chatham Town.

Going the other way is Will Moses, who has joined Ashford United on a one-month loan deal to get more game time.

And boss Drury feels his squad are now in a much better position to start climbing the table.

Drury’s side sat 16th before yesterday’s trip to Haringey Borough.

The former Stevenage, Luton Town and Ipswich midfielder said: “The recruitment we’ve done in December and January, I think people can see the quality they bring to us.

“They needed to play a few games to get up to speed. You can see the results in December weren’t what we wanted but there is a process and building blocks in place to make sure we come into January and people were fit.

“We knew results would change and I feel now we’ve got a really good team and a really good squad now.”
