ECCLESHILL UTD 0 FC HALIFAX TN B 6

- ZACH THOMAS & STEVEN WARDLOW

ECCLESHILL United’s poor run of form continued as they were outclassed 6-0 at home by Yorkshire rivals FC Halifax Town B, in National League U19 Alliance Division H on Wednesday.

United went into the game having won only once since November and sitting second from bottom. Town, however had previously won four out of their last six in all competitions, but only sat one place above Eccleshill in 10th position in Division H.

Prolific Lewis Barlow scored four for the Shaymen, upping his goal tally to 12 in 12 appearances this season, putting him fourth in league’s scoring charts.

Favour Osariemen Gold and substitute Hamza Hamdosh grabbed the other two goals as Town ran out convincing victors.

Halifax claimed their second win over Eccleshill this season, after their 2-0 home victory at the end of November.

This solid defensive display is one of the few times that Town have managed to keep a clean sheet in this campaign, as they have conceded 36 goals in their 14 outings.

However, their latest goalscoring antics will come as no shock as they’ve scored the greatest number of goals this season in the league alongside second placed Buxton.

This result leaves Halifax ninth in the table, five points behind fifth placed Yorkshire Amateur.

Eccleshill remain 11th, only three points above bottom placed Oldham Athletic, who have played one game more than United.

Next up, Halifax take a trip to Lancashire to battle third placed Chorley, with hopes of climbing the table further on Wednesday February 21.

Eccleshill face relegation rivals Oldham Athletic away in a bottom of the table six pointer, also on the same day as they look to make the most of the chance to put some distance between their hosts.
