JIM GETS WELCOME BOOST AT CODICOTE
THIS week’s winner of our 1000GBP.com jackpot prize of £1000 is Jim Bundy, chairman of Codicote FC, who play in the Spartan South Midlands League. Having joined the club as a player when he was 22, Jim, pictured below, later became manager and then chairman of the Hertfordshire village side. “I’ve been chairman for something like 25 or 30 years and have been involved with Codicote through thick and thin – and there has not been much thick,” he said. “Luckily, we are playing well with a new manager and new players and it has been a really good season so far.
“That’s just been helped by this 1000GBP. com prize of £1000 which is absolutely fantastic. I appreciate it is being split between myself and the Club but I have no doubt I’ll get leaned on to put my £500 back into the Club – or at least some of it. Or I might take my wife out for a meal maybe!

“We have one men’s team and an U18’s team and some youth sides, run as Codicote Youth under a different banner. We are hoping to expand that with a reserve side next year and bring the U16s’ in as well, so we can ultimately bring them through to the seniors.
“We heard about 1000GBP.com from another club, Colney Heath, who have won a lot of money so far. One of our coaches here, Dan Norris, sent me a link and we pushed it to all the players and I also sent it out to mates and a work colleague who knows a lot more about the Premier League.
“We play the 1000GBP.com football quiz at lunchtime and put some money in and sit and do the questions so it is really enjoyable and we are having a good time at the moment.
“I’m 61 so some of the questions are easy to answer for me as they were in my day, but other ones I look at with my colleague Warren, who sits beside me at work, asking him ‘come on, do you know this’ and we have only three seconds to answer it! “Sometimes it is a team game and we sit around the screen but it is really good fun. 1000GBP.com is excellent idea that will definitely help Non-League clubs like ours.”
