COMBINED COUNTIES
IN one of only four fixtures in the league’s two top divisions to survive the weather, a brace by midfielder Adam Trotter gave Jersey Bulls a 2-0 Premier South victory over visitors Guildford City
in front of a bumper attendance of 724 at Springfield Stadium.
Trotter opened his account in the 13th minute and added a second after 35 minutes. The win keeps the Bulls third and comes after they narrowly missed the chance to become the first side to take points off leaders Farnham Town, who beat them 1-0 at home on Tuesday.
Sandhurst Town found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-2 scoreline when they were comprehensively beaten at Epsom & Ewell.
The hosts were handed the lead through an own-goal before Tijani Ishlokun and Jaevon Dyer both bagged braces before Carl Obilday also found the back of the net.
In Premier North, Broadfields United
went down 4-2 at home to Wallingford & Crowmarsh, who took an early lead through Andi Noka before an own-goal doubled their score and Aiden Higgs made sure with a brace.
Samad Kazi was on target for hosts Burnham, who beat Edgware & Kingsbury 1-0.
In Division One, Jason Bloor gave hosts Langley the lead against Westside
with Adeshola Onasanya and Edward Clements (penalty) making it 3-0.
However, a terrific second-half fightback saw Westside draw level, only for Onasanya to snatch a 4-3 victory with a 90th-minute winner.
Meanwhile, AFC Croydon Athletic this week launched their own academy to give 16 and 17-years-olds the opportunity to apply for a two-year scholarship with pathways into football, education and the professional sports industry and is now inviting would-be students to apply for trials which are scheduled to take place at Mayfield Stadium on Tuesday, April 2, at 10.30am.
The scheme, which will include studying for the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport, is a new initiative launched in the wake of the purchase by the Rams last year by the trio of global rap star Stormzy along with former Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha and current club chairman Danny Young.
