The Non-League Football Paper

Community quest

- COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE YEAR

WHILE results on the field are ultimately the beall-and-end-all in the pro game, the Non-League emphasis is on clubs being at the heart of their communities, carrying out so much good work that often goes unheralded.

That’s why we honour those clubs who go the extra mile – and this year’s National Game Awards are no different.

This year, the Community

Club of the Year Award is backed by Moving Forward Sport and with so many Non-League clubs doing their bit for their towns and villages, we want you to have your say and let us know who should pick up the coveted prize come May 22.

We’ve had some worthy winners over the years, notably the current holders of the prized decanter, Clapton Community.

Formed just five years ago by disillusioned supporters of Clapton FC, the club is 100 percent fanowned and have become a beacon of light in their community.

Clapton Community FC have claimed full ownership of the Old Spotted

Dog Ground – London’s oldest senior football ground – which is providing a great place for local people to get involved.

“The award is a well-deserved recognition for all the volunteers and the hard work they’ve put into the club over the last five years,” said Sophia Axelsson, general secretary of the club women’s team.

Like many of our awards, we need you to help us highlight the best of Non-League so we make sure to pick the most deserving winner.

All you need to do is tell us who you think deserves recognition. Forward your nomination to us at ngavotes@greenwayspublishing.com.
