ESPIRIT’S SKY FOR

- By Tim Fuell STAR MAN: Sanmi Odelusi (Hayes & Yeading United) ENTERTAINMENT:

FOR the neutral this game had nearly everything. For the hosts it had play-off aspirations. For the visitors it had relegation confirmation. In the end it showed the small margins managers often talk about between success and failure.

Bracknell needed a point to secure a play-off berth, Hayes & Yeading needed a win and results to go their way. At half-time the 0-0 scoreline had it finely poised after a close-run opening half,

The Robins opened the scoring after 56 minutes when Ralph Vigrass collected a ball into the box from the left. He found himself in space with time to control and move the ball onto his stronger foot and fire the ball home.

The goal winded the visitors and, four minutes later, Vigrass again found space down the right but his shot was blocked by the feet of Jacob Adams.

The second Bracknell goal came after 76 minutes.

A great ball slid in between defenders and Hayden Vaughan, the man in space this time, picked his spot and slotting home. Far from being dead and buried, the visitors were back in it two minutes later. Mo Bettamer with a trademark free kick powerfully drilled home inside the near post from the edge of the box.

Five minutes on, and in the the 83rd minute, a United corner from the left was bundled home at the near post, with Tarik Moore Azille claiming the goal.

A draw suited the hosts, but not the visitors and as they pushed on, but Bracknell took advantage within seconds. Jordan Espirit holding off defenders in the box before getting a shot away that put his side back in the lead.

There was still more to come, however. A handball in the box saw a penalty to United given by the assistant referee. Bettamer stepped up, saw it saved low to Joe Besant’s left, but followed up to poke the rebound home.

It stayed 3-3 with a final whistle bringing a gamut of emotions, from home celebrations, to away distress. Inbetween there was a ding dong of a game.
