WINSLOW INDEBTED TO A PAIR OF KINGS

ALEX Woodfine’s third-placed Winslow United clinched promotion to the Premier after winning their Spartan South Midlands League Division One play-off at runners-up Northampto­n Sileby Rangers 3-1.

United took the lead in the 17th minute through an own goal following a Simon King free-kick before home substitute Josh Drain grabbed a second-half leveller.

Aaron King then shot United back in front and then set up Courtney Massay for a third goal to place the issue beyond doubt.

It was a day of celebratio­n across the country as a number of Step 6 leagues held their finals to bring down the curtain on the 2023-24 season.

Harrowby United won their United Counties Division One play-off final at Newark Town 2-1.

Harry Allcock headed the visitors in front in the first half, and added the second after the break with a shot, both goals having been made by Jesse Anderson, before Ryan Smith reduced the deficit with just six minutes left on the lock, only for it to be too late.

Hundreds of Harrowby fans turned up to cheer them on.

Meanwhile, Wick triumphed 5-4 on penalties after drawing 3-3 at Seaham Town in a thrilling Southern Combinatio­n Division One play-off final.

Hosts Seaham looked set to victory when a double from Callum Connor followed by a third goal from Tyler Capon put them in control.

However, Wick, who has taken a first-half lead through Dave Crouch, responded through Josh Irish before Crouch grabbed the equaliser.

In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties

Division One South play-off final, Wormley Rovers beat visitors Dunmow Town 2-1 thanks to an 84th-minute winner from Bradley Empson in front of a crowd which topped 600.

Archie Hammond had earlier put the hosts in front.

Two goals from Luke Spurling and one from Luis Berkane gave Cornard United a 3-1 victory in their Eastern Counties Division One North playoff final at Holland FC to reach Step 5.

In front of a bumper crowd of 828, second-placed Southern Counties East Division One outfit Larkfield & New Hythe saw off third-placed visitors Staplehurs­t Monarch to win their play-off final 1-0.

Larkfield, who lost the 2022 final to Sutton Athletic, were knocked out on penalties at the semi-final stage by Tooting Bec a year ago, finally made it into the top flight thanks to an own goal midway through the second half.

The winning goal came via an own goal in the 61st minute when a cross by Matt Day was diverted in by a Staplehurs­t defender.

OJM Black Country, who finished second in the Midland League Division One, knocked out fifth-placed visitors Droitwich Spa 4-3 on penalties to win their play-Off final and reach Step 5 for the first time in their 33-year history.

The Saltmen took the lead through an own goal by Jordan Sangha but levelled through a penalty by Stephen Leslie, after striker Ricardo Richards had been brought down.

In the Western League, a crowd of 326 saw Brislingto­n come from 2-0 down to beat hosts Wincanton Town 3-2.
