Saints travel to take on league champions
AFTER the disappointment of last Saturday’s league game against Campbeltown Pupils being postponed due to a waterlogged Glencruitten pitch, Oban Saints face a tough game this Saturday when they travel to Duntocher to take on last season’s SAFL Premier Division champions St Joseph’s FP.
The match will take place at William Street with a 2pm kick- off. Referee in charge is Mark Cameron.
This will be a difficult fixture for the Oban lads as St Joe’s are a top quality side. In saying that, Saints beat them at William Street last season so manager Alex Craik is confident his team can do the same on Saturday.
Last weekend’s game against Argyll rivals Campbeltown Pupils due to be played at Glencruitten was called off at 9.30am on Saturday morning after torrential rain saw the playing surface covered in puddles.
Saints secretary David Buchanan said: ‘The pitch was playable at 8am and the nets were put up but by 9.30am puddles were starting to appear and with further heavy rain forecast the ground staff made the decision to call the game off and prevent the Campbeltown team from travelling.
‘We were disappointed at the call- off but it was the right decision.’
