THE Scottish Rural Awards offers the opportunit­y for your rural hero to achieve the recognitio­n they so richly deserve.

Nomination­s for the various categories for 2016 opened on Monday, September 21.

And a new category in this year’s awards of ‘Rural Enterprise’ effectivel­y throws open eligibilit­y for any enterprise across rural Scotland,

Last year’s successful Scottish Rural Awards process culminated in a stunning awards dinner for over 300 people at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.

The interest in the 2016 awards is such that the venue has been forced to increase available spaces to more than 400. Even so, tickets are expected to sell quickly when they go on sale, as everyone vies for a place at the most prestigiou­s rural awards in the country.

The various categories for the 2016 awards are:

Rural Enterprise; Business Start Up; Rural Hero; Education; Rural Tourism and Hospitalit­y; Aquacultur­e; Business Diversific­ation; Conservati­on and the Environmen­t; Agricultur­e; Artisan Food; Artisan Drink; and The Scottish Rural Lifetime Achievemen­t Award.

The deadline for nomination­s is November 20, with judging to take place in the new year.
