Banners and bunting aim to boost Oban
Sir, Most people will have seen the banners and bunting that have been put up on North George Street.
This was organised by Bid4Oban on behalf of our levy-payers and in keeping with our business plan objective of ‘making the best first impression’.
The idea came from discussion with some of the retailers in that area about the best way to improve the first part of the town for visitors and locals.
The bulk of the cost was met from the levy that businesses in the town pay to Bid4Oban but it was helped by other significant contributions, namely from Eeusk paying for the Seafood Capital welcome banner with no requirement for advertising; the Oban Common Good Fund, whose contribution enabled the purchase of code flags rather than traditional bunting; and Argyll and Bute Council without whose help the bunting could not have been erected.
I hope that this meets with approval and thanks to everyone who has assisted.
