Fashion turns to trash

MULL photographer Hannah Morris has been spearheading ‘Trash the Dress’ photo shoots for the last decade, mostly with wedding dresses.

Lately, though, a new trend has emerged for doing similar shoots with girls in prom dresses.

‘The dresses are often unharmed, it depends on the kind of shoot you want to do,’ Ms Morris said, adding: ‘I work with the client to come up with a storyline that suits their personality.’

One such shoot was based on Marie Antoinette and her famous extravagance.

Speaking of the shoot, Ms Morris said: ‘I felt this role suited Shona’s fun and luminous personality. When I asked her if she would like to be photographed in a bath of Champagne her eyes just lit up!’

Another shoot was based on the story of Lachlan MacLean of Duart who tried to kill his wife by abandoning her on an island, now known as Lady Rock, off Lismore.

Ms Morris said of this shoot: ‘I thought this story was great for Mull local, Jenny.’

Ms Morris and her partner AJ Greenway often work together and recently filmed a promo video to show what it is like to work on location on a shoot, which can be viewed on the Hannah Morris Photography Facebook page.
