THE PLOCKTON small boat sailing season began on Saturday June 4 with the first race for the Moore Bowl (local boats) and the first race for the Dubhard Trophy (centreboards).

Only two local boats were ready. Graham Sharp, Rona, finished first ahead of Douglas Hamilton, Ajax.

Five boats took part in the centreboard race. Result: 1 Tristan Southall, Laser 2000; 2 Lauren Glasgow, Fantas; 3 Ian Bullivant, Laser.

Plockton Small Boat Sailing Club commodore this year is Neil Macrae who is second officer on Caledonian MacBrayne’s Finlaggan which goes from Kennacraig to Islay.

The sailing club was delighted recently when one of its members, Calum Reid, who has been sailing at Plockton for three years, was picked to sail for Scotland at the Eric Twiname Championships at Rutland Sailing Club. He sailed four races.

His best result was 12th and he finished 47th out of 90 Toppers.
