Mull and Iona call EGM

-

AT THEIR recent AGM, the Mull and Iona Association called an extraordinary general meeting after the resignation and retirement of members of their committee.

The forthcoming EGM will be held in An Leanag, at 7.30pm on June 23. In an attempt to recruit new committee members, newly- elected Vice President, Ross Wilson, sent the following email to associates of Mull and Iona: Dear fellow islanders, I’m sure you have all attended or, at the very least, heard of the Mull and Iona Association and Annual Gathering. Last year, the association celebrated its 150th year with a great evening of song and dance in Glasgow.

On 01/06/16, the association held their Annual General Meeting during which five of their current committee members (including Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary) all indicated their intention to retire after many years service.

To ensure the continuation of the association and the long-standing link between our islands and the central belt, we need to recruit new members for the association and create an almost entirely new committee.

At present, the association runs an annual gathering in Glasgow, holds around two meetings per year, and makes charitable donations to Mull, Iona and affiliated causes. Such a calendar does not represent an unmanageable amount of work to committee members.

I have sent this email to all of you because of your noted ties with Mull and Iona; but also because of your ties with Glasgow - where the association is based.

We aim to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday June 23, and we would love you to attend, or even to declare an interest in being part of the committee by phone or email.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Ross Wilson, ross.wilson@hotmail.co.uk, Mull and Iona Association.
