SIX Scottish crime writers took part in a book signing and discussion in Fort William Library on Friday evening.

The authors were there to promote the fifth annual Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival, which will take place in Stirling in September.

Chris Brookmyre hosted the event and read from his latest novel, Black Widow, which tells the story of an Inverness woman who murdered her husband. Douglas Johnstone gave an excerpt from The Jump, about a woman whose son committed suicide, while Matt Bendoris read part of DM for Murder, a Twitter murder story featuring a pair of investigative journalists.

Craig Robertson shared an excerpt from his sixth novel, In Place of Death, which follows the theme of urban exploration, and Gordon Brown read from Meltdown, the second book in his series featuring bodyguard Craig McIntyre.

Following the readings there was a discussion and question-and-answer session.
