Scott takes title at Inveraray
Scott Rider celebrates with the ground staff after winning the gold medal in the world championship for caber tossing at Inveraray Highland Games on Tuesday. The Kent-based heavyweight athlete saw off a strong field competing in the grounds of Inveraray Castle on a day blessed with hot temperatures and plenty of sunshine – unlike recent times which have seen Argyll deluged with persistent rain. The heavyweight events were the highlight of the games, with the caber world championship as the focal point, but with much attention on the piping, dancing, athletics and cycling. Scott is no stranger to sports fans north of the border, having represented England in the shot put competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
