Limousin bullock is champion at Dalmally show and sale of cattle

IN FRONT of a packed ringside of buyers, United Auctions’ annual fair day show and sale of cattle was held at Dalmally Auction Mart.

An increased catalogued entry of 411 top quality cattle were on offer at the sale, held on Friday July 29.

Show judging ahead of the sale was in the hands of Mr S Connon, Skilmafilly, Auchnagatt, and his awards were as follows:

Charolais bullocks: 1 Messrs McIntyre, Glenahervie; 2 Messrs Ronald, East Laggan; 3 Messrs Ronald, East Laggan.

Limousin bullocks: 1 Messrs Semple, Dippen; 2 Messrs Semple, Dippen; 3 Mr R Currie, Low Dunashery.

Any other breed of bullock: 1 Messrs MacCallum, Strathnafanaig.

Charolais heifer: 1 Messrs MacIntyre; 2 Messrs Semple; 3 Messrs Ronald.

Limousin heifer: 1 Messrs Semple; 2 Mr R Lines, Killocraw; 3 Mr H Morrison, 9 Kileonan.

Any other breed of heifer: 1 Messrs Ralston, Rhoin; 2 Mr R Lines; 3 Messrs MacCallum.

Best pen of four bullocks and best pen of four heifers: Messrs Semple.

Overall champion: Messrs Semple with a Limousin bullock - 446k £1,200 to Messrs Hamilton, Bee Edge Farm.

Reserve overall: Messrs Semple with a Limousin heifer - 454k £1,150 to Mr S Connon. Overall, the bullocks averaged £953.99 or 231.76p/ kg whilst the heifers levelled out at £920.71 or 228.12p/ kg.
