Gregor Cameron extends sponsorship of Glasgow Celtic Society Cup
THE Glasgow Celtic Society is delighted to announce Gregor Cameron has extended his sponsorship of shinty’s Glasgow Celtic Society Cup for the 2017 competition. The Argyll-based project management consultant has supported shinty’s oldest competition since 2015.
It was also confirmed that this year’s Gregor Cameron Celtic Society Cup final will take place on Saturday June 24 at the Taynuilt Sports Hub.
Society chairman John MacLeod said: ‘ We are thrilled that Gregor Cameron has further invested in our competition for this year. He has been avid an supporter of our game and has shown real commitment to the competition and the Taynuilt Sports Hub in the past two years. I would like to thank him for his support; we are delight- ed to be working with him for another year.’
In speaking of the sponsorship, Gregor commented: ‘I am absolutely delighted to continue our alliance with this fantastic competition. This will be our third year of involvement and we are all looking forward to returning to the Taynuilt Sports Hub this June. The past two cup finals have provided fans with exciting shinty encounters and I am sure this year will provide more of the same.’
The Glasgow Celtic Society also announced the draw for the 2017 Gregor Cameron Celtic Society Cup which sees holders Kyles Athletic take on Kilmory or Taynuilt in the quarter-finals.
Commenting on the draw, John Macleod added: ‘This year’s draw has thrown up some exciting ties which I am sure all teams will be looking forward too. Kyles Athletic and Inveraray was a great final to watch for all shinty fans, and Taynuilt provided excellent facilities so we are delighted to return there for what we hope will be another memorable shinty match.’
