Double defeat on the road for Fort William
FORT WILLIAM travelled up the A82 last Wednesday to Inverness to face an in-form Clachnacuddin team in the first round of the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup.
Despite a double from top scorer Scottie Davidson, taking his tally for the season so far to an impressive 16 goals, it was the home side who ran out comfortable and convincing 6-2 winners.
Fort’s on-loan Caley Thistle defender Ally Stark was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
A spokesperson for the club said: ‘This match summed up the Fort’s season. You lose count of the number of matches they have taken the lead only for it to be followed up by a defensive collapse.’
On Saturday, Fort William travelled to Aberdeenshire o take on Turriff United without top scorer Davidson, who was out injured, and on-loan Caley Thistle goalkeeper Stephen Foster came into make his first Highland League start.
Despite a good start from the Fort, three goals in quick successions before half-time put paid to their chances, and, with the home side adding one more in the second half, it made the final score Turriff United 4, Fort William 0.
The Fort will be hoping to pick up full points when they host Rothes this Saturday at Claggan Park with a 3pm kick off.
