Ladies who lunch raise more than £1,000 for Marie Curie
NINETY Lochaber ladies sat down to a fundraising lunch which raised more than £1,000 for Marie Curie.
The women got together at the Alexandra Hotel on Saturday June 17 to help raise money for the charity that helps families with end- of-life care.
The event got off to a sparkling start with a glass of bubbly from the hotel and a selection of fabulous cocktails provided free of charge by Ali Smith of The Tavern Restaurant.
Throughout the afternoon, as well as enjoying a tasty two- course meal and coffee, there were entertaining games, organised by compere Linda Campbell, and a Neal’s Yard Remedies beauty demonstration by Maja Kusz-Massie.
The afternoon ended with a superb raffle, with more than a dozen brilliant prizes. Each guest was also given a yellow-themed cupcake, donated by local artisan bakers, to represent Marie Curie.
Joan MacKintosh of the group told the Lochaber
Times: ‘ We are grateful to The Alexandra Hotel, The Tavern Restaurant, Western Isles Cruises, Morrisons, Lidl, Boots, Lloyds Fort William, The Granite House, McDonald Brothers, Venus Beauty Salon, Christopher MacPherson at Nevis Range, Swell Cakes, Lynne’s Bakehouse, Cuppacakes, Cakes by Catherine, Laura MacGillivray, Linda Campbell, Fleming and Fleming, Semi Chem and many other individuals who gave prizes and their time to make the event such a success.’
It is hoped the event may become an annual one.
