Man jailed over assault on former partner

-

A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been sent back to prison to complete 96 days of a sentence for domestic abuse and had another eight months added for a further offence.

Andrei Tsilikin, whose address was given as 3-2, 23 High Street, Oban, admitted assaulting his ex-partner on August 4 at her home in the town by punching her on the face to her injury. He was on bail at the time.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes, sitting at Oban Sheriff Court last Tuesday, was told that neighbours heard an argument going on at the property and called the police. When officers arrived they saw the pair had been drinking.

Tsilikin’s defence agent, Jane McLaren, said the former couple’s relationship was ‘volatile’.

The accused had returned to collect some belongings and now the trained pastry chef had no reason to return to Oban.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes noted that at the time Tsilikin had just been released from prison for a similar offence and still had 96 days of the original sentence outstanding.

He will now serve this along with eight months for the latest offence, the terms to run consecutively.
