Taynuilt Post Office under new ownership

-

AFTER Taynuilt Post Office sat on the market for three years, Lorna MacLennan, who has worked there for almost three decades decided to take things into her own hands.

And on Friday (September 1) she took over as owner from Neill and Islay MacNab.

‘It’s still a bit daunting and unreal,’ she said. ‘But it’s exciting. I have a mixture of emotions.

‘I have been doing the job for 29 years, so it’s not a new job; it’s just taking the responsibility for everything. I hope everyone will use it.’

Lorna says she bought it to ‘keep it alive for the village’.

‘Without the post office, there would be no community spirit left,’ she added.

‘It’s the hub of the village, everyone comes here. I just hope everyone will be happy with the outcome.’

Lorna has decided to change the opening times of the shop.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays it will be open from 7am until 5pm.

And on Wednesdays and Saturdays it will be open from 7am until 1pm.

On Sundays it will be open from 8am until 11am.
