Fossil fanatic honoured
FOSSIL fanatic Dugald Ross has been honoured by a palaeontology charity.
The Palaeontological Association awarded Dugald the Mary Anning Award last year for his many contributions and dedication to palaeontology but he wasn’t able to attend the ceremony in Lyon.
To make sure his achievement was celebrated, Dugald was presented with his award by palaeontology experts earlier this year. A self-taught fossil hunter, he has published numerous academic papers and safeguards fossil sites on Skye for Scottish Natural Heritage. For decades, Dugald has collected fossils in his time off from working as a builder and a crofter.
