OHS Pipe Band celebrate year with victory parade

Oban High School’s all-conquering pipe band marched along George Street to Station Square last week to celebrate their amazing year.

The band won a trio of trophies at the Cowal Highland Gathering to top off a terrific year.

They were crowned the novice juvenile drumming champions in group A and were victorious in the piping in groups A and B.

‘It’s been a very good season,’ said Nan Johnstone, of OHS Pipe Band. ‘We have achieved much higher positions than we anticipated at the start of the year. We are hoping to maintain that next season.’

The bands are now preparing to play for 500 continuous minutes in an effort to raise money, which would allow them to take two teams to the UK Championships.

Members of the band will take turns playing from 9am until 5.30am on September Saturday 9 at the performance area on Stafford Street.
