Skipinnish rock the Barrowland

-

HAVING come storming back from the edge of existence when they lost their former lead singer in 2016, Highland band Skipinnish are powering through their biggest year yet.

In the 18-year history of the band, their current popularity is unprecedented and is growing at an accelerating rate.

Having started the year with their hit single Alive which they followed with the album, The Seventh Wave, the magic of this band’s music and self-penned songs are enchanting more and more people from Scotland and across the world all the time.

At their recent gig, they stormed a full house of fans from across the world at the iconic Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. The gig sold out in record time back in May with the first 600 early-bird tickets selling in less than 10 minutes of release.

Supporting Skipinnish were Leo and Anto, a duo comprising of Leo Moran of the Saw Doctors and Anthony Thistlethwaite of the Waterboys. Also joining the band were long-time collaborators Rachel Walker and Archie McAlister, as well as surprise guest Malcolm Jones of Runrig, who’s appearance sent the crowd even wilder than they were already.

As well as headlining some of the UK’s biggest festivals, Skipinnish have sold out every single venue they have appeared at in 2017 including Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh, the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, the Albert Halls in Stirling and many others in all areas of the country from Stornoway, in the Western Isles, Strathy in the far north and Biggar in the south.

Already all the earlybird tickets for the band’s busy Christmas tour are sold out and anticipation is running high for their Oban gig in the Corran Halls on Friday December 22.

Skipinnish are on the crest of wave that is growing bigger and more powerful with every performance. How far the band’s popularity will continue to grow is difficult to predict, but if the Barrowland performance is anything to go by, their wave is on the way to great heights.
