Oban golfer Robert MacIntyre turns professional
OBAN golfer Robert MacIntyre has made the leap from amateur to professional and will make his debut in the MENA Tour.
The 21-year-old is set to play in the Jordan Golf Championship, which tees off today (Thursday).
MacIntyre, who is fresh from an impressive display in the Walker Cup, will then spend time practicing in Dubai, before playing the Sahara Kuwait Championship from October 16-18.
MacIntyre told his sponsor Bounce Sport: ‘You’ve got to start somewhere when you turn pro and I don’t mind at all going from the top of the amateur game to working my way up through the professional ranks.
‘It’s about building things up again and I think the biggest challenge when you go from amateur to pro is getting the right mindset.
‘My family are delighted about this development, as are the members at my club – Glencruitten. They are excited to see where my future lies. It’s about learning the ropes in the professional game. It’s about learning how to live out on the road and that excites me.’
