THE LOCAL History Society will welcome back Bill Cameron for his talk 'A Run around St Kilda – Past, Present and Future'. An interestin­g evening is promised with photograph­s and tales of St Kilda not found in the numerous books written about the island. Everyone welcome tonight, Thursday October 5 at 8pm, in the Ben Nevis Hotel.

ON SATURDAY October 7, Fort William Mountain Festival will host a minifest in associatio­n with West Highland College UHI. The film night will showcase some of the best mountain movies around. Tickets and informatio­n can be found at mountainfe­stival.co.uk. Films will be suitable for all ages.

LOCHABER Natural History Society starts its winter series of lectures on Monday October 9 with Ian Strachan's 'Extreme botanising: rare plants on Ben Nevis'. Meet at Alexandra Hotel, 7.30pm, cost £4 or £15 for the season.

STAFF and volunteer members from Caol-based Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) for sight and hearing support will be in Acharacle on Monday October 9. The outreach team will be at Acharacle Medical Practice from 10.30-11.30am to offer help and advice to anyone living with a hearing or sight loss. The LSC representa­tives will also supply NHS hearing aid batteries and re-tube and maintain hearing aids.

MUSIC and drama are the main highlights this month in the exciting autumn programme of live events from Skye Events for All (SEALL). Leading internatio­nal guitarist Tony McManus comes to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Saturday October 7. The event begins at 7.30pm in An Talla Mhor. Theatre takes centre stage at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Tuesday October 10 with Scottish Theatre Producers and Festival and King’s Theatres, Edinburgh’s wonderfull­y comic story of The Sunshine Ghost. This new musical by Andy Cannon, of Wee Stories, Leaf by Niggle and Night Light fame, tells the tale of a Florida billionair­e who buys an ancient Scottish castle and brings it home, brick by brick, for his fiancée only to discover the previous owner has not quite left the building. The show begins at 7.30pm in TDC main hall. And on Wednesday, 11 October, at 7.30pm, audiences will have a chance to see a double fill of new short plays in Gaelic, English and Scots.

WEDNESDAY October 11 sees two blood donor sessions in the Nevis Centre in Fort William. The first runs from 1.30-4pm, with the second from 5-7.15pm.

THE WARREN Smith Ski Academy will be coming to Fort William on Friday October 13 as part of its tour of ski technique lab talks.

Consisting of a lecture and a personal range test assessment, the evening will take place at the Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports shop in Fort William at 7pm. The event will last around two hours. Tickets can be bought through the Ellis Brigham website.

LOCHABER Camanachd Club will hold its annual general meeting in the Bridge Cafe, Spean Bridge, on Friday November 10, at 7.30pm.
