Ardnamurchan school awarded for sporting commitment
ARDNAMURCHAN High School has been recognised with a prestigious national award for innovation and achievement in physical education and extra-curricular sport. The school has achieved the sportscotland silver School Sport Award for their commitment to getting pupils involved in sporting activity.
As part of the National Lottery-funded programme, the sportscotland School Sport Award is a national initiative that is designed to encourage schools continuously to improve physical education and sport. The award also encourages sporting links between schools and the communities around them.
Wendy Green, PE teacher at Ardnmaurchan High School, commented: ‘It’s an honour to be awarded the sportscotland silver School Sport Award. Our staff work incredibly hard to deliver curricular and extra-curricular sports, such as shinty, football, cross country running and much more. We believe that physical education, physical activity and sport are important factors in the school curriculum as they teach skills for life and give pupils the opportunity to develop these skills and in doing so become more confident.’
