Successful Glasgow Skye Gathering
I could not make the Glasgow Skye Gathering this year but I am told it was celebrated in style - with two great evenings of entertainment both in the Glasgow University Union.
At Thursday night’s dinner, a good number of members and friends enjoyed an excellent meal. The main speaker was Alasdair Campbell, the Right Honourable Lord Bracadale, who gave an amusing and informative address.
The association was toasted by Donald (Maroot) MacLeod in his own inimitable style and the guests and kindred associations were toasted by Shona Masson.
Friday night saw Sìneag MacIntyre, Catriona Watt, Darren MacLean, Calum Angus MacDonald and Eilidh MacFadyen (accordion), John Gillies (association piper), and the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band (led by Pipe Sergeant Kurt MacIntosh) all in tremendous form in a most enjoyable concert - chaired ably by Lord Bracadale.
The dance which followed (to music by the Dùn Mòr Ceilidh Band) was also voted a resounding success.
