Soroba to get recycling bin areas
SIX recycling areas are to be created in Soroba to give the area ‘considerably’ more blue bins.
The current communal recycling bins will be moved to either Mull Terrace, Shuna Terrace, Colonsay Terrace or McCaig Road, where the assigned areas will be located.
The project is being carried out in partnership between Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) and Argyll and Bute Council.
ACHA has contributed £4,500 towards the cost, and council employees will undertake the work. Alastair MacGregor, chief executive of ACHA, said: ‘ACHA is pleased to be able to work with Argyll and Bute Council to provide additional space to assist with recycling in Soroba.
‘The association believes that this additional capacity will allow the recycling initiative to move forward and to meet the needs of our tenants in Soroba.’
Speaking at the Soroba Residents’ Association meeting, which takes place on the first Tuesday of each month, councillor for Oban South and the Isles Roddy McCuish said: ‘I think it’s good that ACHA and Argyll and Bute Council are working together on this with the residents.
‘I want to thank Soroba Community Group for always bringing this up at its meetings. Only by doing that can you get something done.
‘It’s something we have to try and I am confident it will work.’
