Cavendish Winds play Lochaber Music For All

-

WIND quartet Cavendish Winds star at the next Lochaber Music For All concert at Lochaber High School this Friday.

Formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2014, Cavendish Winds have performed in concerts, educational projects and competitions from London’s Wigmore Hall to the Isle of Coll.

Upon their return to Scotland in February, they will perform a rich tapestry of works from all around the world including France (Poulenc), America (Barber) and Hungary (Ligeti).

The group comprises Mary Tyler on clarinet, Katy Ovens on flute, Alice Quayle on bassoon, Henry Clay on oboe and Charlie Ransley on horn. All perform as soloists and various ensembles throughout Europe, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in West End shows and jazz ensembles.

The concert will be held on Friday February 16 at 7.30pm at Lochaber High School. Tickets available on the door, £10 adult, £1 for children and students.

The next concert after Cavendish Winds will be held on Sunday March 11 at 3pm at Lochaber High School, featuring a trio named ‘Kosmos’.

Kosmos is composed of violin, viola and accordian players. Kosmos Ensemble is re-defining classical and world music. Sophisticated jazz glides magically into wild Gypsy fiddling, emotive Jewish music into hot-blooded tango, Arabic and Turkish improvisation into Greek melodies.

As described by Richard Morrison, chief music critic of The Times: ‘telepathic rapport, dazzling virtuosity, serious scholarship, intellectual curiosity and impeccable musicianship. I defy you not to be mesmerised’.

Making extensive use of their own arrangements, alongside vibrant new compositions, entrancing dance rhythms, soulful improvisation and passion delivered with panache and virtuoso technique.
