Oban Lions need your old glasses

-

OBAN and Lorn Lions Club is appealing to local residents to donate their old glasses for the Recycle for Sight Appeal, which gives the gift of sight to people in developing countries.

The spectacles will be sent to Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Ghana and Nepal, where eye care and prescription glasses are not available to those who need them most.

‘In just about any home, you will find at least one pair of glasses that are no longer being used,’ said Lions press officer Jim Edge. ‘That pair of glasses can change another person’s life. The inability to see clearly can prevent children from learning in school and adults from finding work, but by working with other Lions clubs around the world, we can bring clear vision to millions.

Glasses can be dropped off at the doctors’ surgeries in Oban and Connel, Oban’s three opticians, Atlantis Leisure, Hope Kitchen, The Oban Times and in Rockfield and St Columbas primary schools.
