Muckairn
THE Muckairn Guild met in the church on March 5, and this gathering’s theme was: ‘Go in love’.
After the hymn ‘Jesus I have promised to serve you to the end’, Jessie Servant read of the love of Jesus and his exhortation to love one another.
Marlene Stanners then welcomed Beth Campbell and Marie McDougall from Hope Kitchen.
Beth began with a quote from Bob Kerry: ‘Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly and most under-rated agent of human change.’
Beth and Marie then spoke of the work done by the Christian charity at New Hope, as it is now called.
They and many volunteers welcome people with many difficulties, such as homelessness, poverty and loneliness, providing hot meals, washing facilities, advice and company, as well as, when needed, clothing, bedding and food.
The meeting closed with the hymn ‘The church is wherever God’s people are praising’.
