Made in Oban blankets bring comfort to baby-loss families
Blankets sewn with love are being sent from Oban to families around the UK who are grieving the loss of a baby.
The beautiful blankets are included in special memory boxes provided by charity SiMBA and go out to 210 hospital units – the charity supports anyone affected by miscarriage, a still birth or neo-natal death.
On Saturday, the local branch of SiMBA had its first blanket making session at Rockfield Community Centre, helped by sewing teacher Breege Smyth.
Susan Simpson, who is SiMBA’s Highlands ambassador and one of its directors, said: ‘The blankets are to wrap baby in. What makes them so special is that the families who receive them will know the blankets in their memory box have been made with love by people who have experienced the loss they are going through.’
A bereavement support drop-in session is held on the first Thursday of every month at the Rockfield Centre from 7pm to 9pm.
