ROCKFIELD PUPILS GET READY TO GO FOR SPORTS RELIEF

-

YOUNGSTERS from Oban’s Rockfield Primary School have stepped up to a special Sport Relief challenge.

Pupils in Class P6 were invited by The Oban Times to design adverts for local businesses to appear on a special page supporting this year’s Sport Relief.

Class teacher Fiona Cameron said pupils had some ‘brilliant’ ideas for their designs and had lots of fun.

‘They knew a lot about the businesses they were drawing adverts for.

‘Some of them have family working in some of them. I

think they had brilliant ideas, they’ve done fantastically well,’ said Ms Cameron.

As well as designing the adverts, the class will also be getting sporty to take part in their own challenge. ‘Weather depending, we’ll be out in the playground running round or doing cycling proficiency. If we’re indoors, we’ll be doing star jumps and jumping jacks to do as much as we can for Sports Relief,’ added Ms Cameron.

The nation is being challenged to come together to beat an epic one billion steps a day, every day, for Sport Relief

this year from March 17 to 23. Celebrities Zoe Ball, Greg James, Alex Jones and more are taking on epic challenges of their own. The stars will also be out in force for a night of TV entertainment, on Friday March 23, live on BBC One.

Comic Relief chief executive Liz Warner said: ‘Sport Relief gets us all donning our trainers and taking on all types of sporty challenges or running a mile at school to help raise funds.

‘In 2018, we have more British celebrities than ever pushing themselves to the limit to help us raise money for

Sport Relief, which gives 50 per cent of funds to the UK and the other 50 per cent to the most desperate communities in the world.

‘This is the first time we have asked the nation to take up a collective challenge and we can’t wait to see how many steps we can all do. Let’s hit a billion steps and get more donations and sponsors coming in to help others.’
