Family says ‘thanks for the memories’

-

WORD about Oban’s ‘fantastic community spirit’ is about to wing its way to New Zealand.

Teacher Eilir Campbell moved to the town from the Wirral with her physiotherapist husband Leon and their baby Oakley Lion in January while waiting for visas to be issued - and could not have picked a better place for a young family to be, said the mum-of-one.

They flew out to New Zealand on Sunday to start their new life in Wellington but will be taking up lots of happy memories of Oban with them.

‘We’ll be sure to tell everyone just how wonderful Oban is. Our experience was truly amazing and the people of Oban have been so welcoming, helpful and kind. Not only this, but Oban is such a beautiful town full of character and idyllic said Mrs Campbell.

She said she was overwhelmed by the number of parent groups and praised facilities including Atlantis Leisure Centre and the Lorn Medical Centre.

‘It has been a joy to have experienced living in Oban and to have had the opportunity to visit local islands. It is lovely to see so many small businesses and privately-owned shops, there is such a fantastic community spirit. We would just like to say thank you to you all, thank you for making us feel at home, thank you for making our time here such a happy experience and we can only hope New Zealand provides us with as many happy memories like we have made here in Oban,’ she said. scenery,’
