Park primary win Oban, Lorn and Isles gymnastics festival
PUPILS from Rockfield Primary School ran out comfortable winners last Thursday in a school athletics competition at Atlantis Leisure.
In total eight teams took part in the event: Dalmally, Taynuilt, Dunbeg, Rockfield B, St Columba’s, Lochnell, Park, and Rockfield A.
And in the end, St Columba’s and Lochnell shared third place, Park finished second and Rockfield A were the winners.
Best
At the prize giving ceremony, Atlantis Leisure’s Kevin Keen said: ‘Some of the athletics that I saw today were some of the best that we have seen in years.’
The event was organised by both Atlantis Leisure and Active Schools.
Gillian Walker, Active Schools coordinator, said: ‘It was great. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the standard was good.’ MORE than 100 primary school pupils leaped, rolled and flipped around Oban High School’s sports hall last Tuesday for the annual Oban, Lorn and the Isles gymnastics festival.
Pupils from primaries across Oban, Lorn and the Isles took part in the Active Schools event, however, it was Park 3 that were crowned the best group.
Second
In second place was Ardgour and Park 1 finished in third place.
Joshua Lane was awarded the best boy accolade, while Cairstiona McAloon was chosen as the best girl .
Dawn Horsburgh, sports manager of Active Schools, said: ‘It’s nice to see boys and girls and a mixture of ages. This could not happen without the volunteers and all the dedicated people who give up their time and make the training happen.
